Dinner on the Southbank

This evening I met up with my friend Sheila for a farewell dinner down at Southbank. Sheila was my very first friend in England, so saying goodbye to her was extra difficult. I met Sheila through a mutual friend who found out I was moving to England and gave me Sheila's email, insisting I get in touch with her. Thank goodness I did because she's been such a sweet friend to me, and when I arrived here last summer, a bit lost and totally overwhelmed, Sheila welcomed me into her home and made me feel so much more comfortable and cared for. We've met up several times this year to tour different places like Windsor Castle and the Museum of London.

Before I met up with Shelia, I took a few photos along the Southbank, which happens to be my favorite place in London. There are always so many interesting things going on, and the Southbank is full of art and unique set ups for people to enjoy. With the sun shining brightly, it was hard to feel sad. So instead of wallowing in goodbyes, I tried to just enjoy the warm evening air and the spectacular views we had from our table.

I'll miss my new friend when I go home, but we talked about Sheila coming out to the states for a visit, and I'm hopeful she will! If nothing else, I'm happy to have a pen pal for many more years to come!
